Happy Holidays!

I returned from Texas on Wednesday evening. I went down for my cousin's wedding, and then over to Dallas for a business trip so that I could make everything tax deductable. I find that long trips always bring up pertinent questions, such as: 1. Why do they do road construction everywhere I want to drive? 2. Why do people like to cut me off so much? 3. Why do I have to pay money to drive slower on a road they're perpetually doing construction on? and 4. Why do people like to cut me off so much?
Once I answer all these questions, I'm sure I'll be a much smarter man.

Kacey and I leave this evening to go to Saint Louis for Christmas. We recently got a new printer/scanner, so we'll put up the ultrasound pictures after the holiday, and hopefully we'll get some pictures from the holiday we can put up too. We wish everyone a good holiday.

No, really...

We are keeping this up to date, there's just not terribly much going on. I mean, there is, but it's boring. Or something like that.

We were lucky enough to get about 1.5 inches of ice here in Columbia, with more winter weather threatening by the minute. Fortunately, the roads aren't too bad. The most trouble I had was getting my car up to the Saturn lot to get checked out for the trip I'm taking to Abilene and Dallas. I did tell Kacey that she's not allowed to slip and fall on the ice while she's pregnant.

I'm leaving tomorrow for Abilene to go to my cousin's wedding, after which I'll go to Dallas to do some filming for the not-for-profit side of a business that a buddy o' mine runs. Hooray for being able to make a vacation into a business trip! I'll have a few days at home after that, then Kacey and Gizmo and I will go to Saint Louis for a whirlwind Christmas as we have each year. I think it ends up being 5 visits, and 4 meals in 2 days. Seeing how I've apparently gained 10 pounds between my last 2 doctor visits, I'll probably have to keep even a closer eye on what I consume.

Everything's going fine for Kacey and the baby; she's sleeping most, if not all, of the night now and has been feeling pretty good.

14.5 weeks done, 25.5 to go! (12/21 revised because of poor math.)

First baby pics

So we had our first official ultrasound today, and well it's going to be hard for Jordan to deny we are having a baby since he actually saw it move. He/she's an active child and didn't really want to cooperate, I don't know where he/she picked that up from. Not to mention that every time we tried to look at his/her face he/she would put their hands over it so we couldn't, again not sure where that comes from. We do have some really good pictures like the one where he/she is sucking or biting his/her hand. Plus we know that he/she has ten fingers and ten toes and a really good heartbeat. Although we do also have pictures that make him/her look kinda like an alien but oh well he/she is still growing. Another plus I'm feeling way better and I've had almost a full week where I slept all night long. I'm sure that will end soon. Jordan is finally feeling better also just tired from all the work, oh well guess that's life.
13 weeks done. 27 to go. hopefully.
one of these days we'll put pictures up.

Looking Forward

Well, I think I'm finally over this sinus stuff. Kacey's mostly over all her random cold stuff, as well, so hopefully soon we'll get working on getting the house clean and organized and rearranged. I realize it's still about 6 months 'til the kiddo's born, but I think we'll need all that time for this task.

In other news, owning a house apparently can get annoying. The light in the future-nursery room went out randomly the other night, and now it won't come back on. We also arrived home to some water damage in our wall between the living room and the kitchen. I guess it's time to search online for how to fix all that stuff safely.

12.7 weeks, only 37.3 left!

Holiday Break

Kacey and I got back Sunday from a trip down to Tulsa, OK and Madill, OK to see my family. The trip went pretty well according to schedule, which is always nice. The one thing that didn't go according to plan is the sinus crud I came back with. Both my nephews were ill and Kacey was feeling under the weather, so I think I was lucky enough to catch all of it. Fortunately, I won't really have time to be sick until Christmas. Kacey and I plan to be in St. Louis from about the 21st until the 26th to do the whole Holiday Extravaganza: about 5 meals in 2 days between our families.

Kacey is feeling pretty well, which is good. She's at about 12 weeks, only 28 left! (Assuming my math holds up.)

Okay

For all of you who wished to comment and couldn't, I have fixed the problem with that from this blog on.

Kacey had a doctor's visit today, they said she and the baby are both healthy.

That's all for now.

Thanksgiving time...

is almost upon us. Kacey and I will be taking our annual trip down to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. She's been having some morning sickness here and there, but hopefully won't there. I keep realizing all the things I don't really know about having a kid, like whether morning sickness lasts the whole time or not.

Alisa and Frederic and Benjamin are coming to visit us today, which should be fun. We'll have to take them to some great local restaurant. I think Columbia, per capita, has more restaurants than anywhere in the world. It's a good thing most of them are fantastic.

Oh, and of course, I added a poll on this page for everybody's predictions as to whether our kid will be a boy or a girl. I'm somewhat astonished it's even right now. One vote per person, please.

T-minus 30 something weeks and counting...I think. Kacey will probably edit this to make it right.

The Costs of a Child

I got my first price surprise the other day, which wasn't really a surprise, but I know we'll have to have one otherwise people will bother me and bug me and so on and so forth.

A digital SLR.

Of course, we're going to have to have pictures of our kiddo and document his/her life for the first 18 years, and the ease of use of digital cameras make it the probably first purchase for our kid, since it'll be more necessary but a seemingly bigger price hit closer to its birth.

Unless, of course, somebody knows of a good, cheap camera repair place, and knows of a good, cheap photo scanner...

Ideally, I'm getting a Pentax, but I have to find a camera body that's affordable since we have cars and a house to take care of. Sigh. I'm sure it's gonna get easier from here on out, right? =)

Reason for blogging.

Which is, of course, that Kacey's pregnant, and I thought this might be the easiest way for everybody to catch up on our goings on.

As of now, the due date is June 6th, which leaves us 7 months to get the house clean and get in good habits. We are not planning to find out whether our baby is a boy or a girl until it's born, that way it makes it more fun guessing and we're less prepared when it's born, or something like that.

Other than that, we'll use this as a way to keep everybody informed and updated on what's going on in the Land of the Lundys.
