Looking Forward

Well, I think I'm finally over this sinus stuff. Kacey's mostly over all her random cold stuff, as well, so hopefully soon we'll get working on getting the house clean and organized and rearranged. I realize it's still about 6 months 'til the kiddo's born, but I think we'll need all that time for this task.

In other news, owning a house apparently can get annoying. The light in the future-nursery room went out randomly the other night, and now it won't come back on. We also arrived home to some water damage in our wall between the living room and the kitchen. I guess it's time to search online for how to fix all that stuff safely.

12.7 weeks, only 37.3 left!

Holiday Break

Kacey and I got back Sunday from a trip down to Tulsa, OK and Madill, OK to see my family. The trip went pretty well according to schedule, which is always nice. The one thing that didn't go according to plan is the sinus crud I came back with. Both my nephews were ill and Kacey was feeling under the weather, so I think I was lucky enough to catch all of it. Fortunately, I won't really have time to be sick until Christmas. Kacey and I plan to be in St. Louis from about the 21st until the 26th to do the whole Holiday Extravaganza: about 5 meals in 2 days between our families.

Kacey is feeling pretty well, which is good. She's at about 12 weeks, only 28 left! (Assuming my math holds up.)

Okay

For all of you who wished to comment and couldn't, I have fixed the problem with that from this blog on.

Kacey had a doctor's visit today, they said she and the baby are both healthy.

That's all for now.

Thanksgiving time...

is almost upon us. Kacey and I will be taking our annual trip down to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. She's been having some morning sickness here and there, but hopefully won't there. I keep realizing all the things I don't really know about having a kid, like whether morning sickness lasts the whole time or not.

Alisa and Frederic and Benjamin are coming to visit us today, which should be fun. We'll have to take them to some great local restaurant. I think Columbia, per capita, has more restaurants than anywhere in the world. It's a good thing most of them are fantastic.

Oh, and of course, I added a poll on this page for everybody's predictions as to whether our kid will be a boy or a girl. I'm somewhat astonished it's even right now. One vote per person, please.

T-minus 30 something weeks and counting...I think. Kacey will probably edit this to make it right.

The Costs of a Child

I got my first price surprise the other day, which wasn't really a surprise, but I know we'll have to have one otherwise people will bother me and bug me and so on and so forth.

A digital SLR.

Of course, we're going to have to have pictures of our kiddo and document his/her life for the first 18 years, and the ease of use of digital cameras make it the probably first purchase for our kid, since it'll be more necessary but a seemingly bigger price hit closer to its birth.

Unless, of course, somebody knows of a good, cheap camera repair place, and knows of a good, cheap photo scanner...

Ideally, I'm getting a Pentax, but I have to find a camera body that's affordable since we have cars and a house to take care of. Sigh. I'm sure it's gonna get easier from here on out, right? =)

Reason for blogging.

Which is, of course, that Kacey's pregnant, and I thought this might be the easiest way for everybody to catch up on our goings on.

As of now, the due date is June 6th, which leaves us 7 months to get the house clean and get in good habits. We are not planning to find out whether our baby is a boy or a girl until it's born, that way it makes it more fun guessing and we're less prepared when it's born, or something like that.

Other than that, we'll use this as a way to keep everybody informed and updated on what's going on in the Land of the Lundys.
